Devonna Truong graduated from McMaster University with both a Masters of Science degree in Physical Therapy and an Honors Baccalaureate of Science degree in Biology with a specialization in Physiology. Through her education and clinical experience she has established a strong foundational knowledge in human anatomy and physiology, biomechanics, manual therapy and exercise prescription.
Devonna is committed to professional growth and evidence-based practice as a clinician. She has participated in continuing education by specializing in pelvic health physiotherapy, and area of which she has developed a true passion for. She treats conditions including incontinence, prolapse, pelvic pain conditions, pregnancy-related pelvic girdle or low back pain and chronic low back/SIJ/hip pain.
She has also challenged her Manual Therapy Level 1 and is certified in acupuncture through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute. She is currently pursuing advanced courses in manual therapy and pelvic health.
She is a strong advocate for the importance of pelvic health and women’s health as the Public Relations Chair on the Executive Committee of the Women’s Health Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA). She is also actively involved with the McMaster Physiotherapy Program as a Tutorial Facilitator. Furthermore, she has presented her Masters evidence-based research project at the 2016 CPA Congress, as well as her undergraduate senior thesis research project at the Research Conference in Kinesiology at the University of Toronto.
Devonna is passionate about living a healthy and active lifestyle. In her spare time, she enjoys weight training, hiking, yoga and travelling.
