Registered Massage Therapist
BA Kin, RMT
David is a massage therapist specializing in sports and repetitive strain injuries. Prior to entering the field of Massage Therapy he completed a Specialized Honours degree in Kinesiology and Health Sciences at York University. He has also worked in the fitness industry as a personal trainer.
David frequently learns and adds new massage techniques to his “toolbox” to have many options to treat a client efficiently and effectively. In 2008, he incorporated the use of Soft Tissue Release (STR). Developed in the mid 1980’s by Stuart Taws STR is a treatment technique where pressure is exerted on the muscle or connective tissue while the muscle is taken through its range of motion and stretched. This aids in the mobilization of adhesions and breaking up of scar tissue. By doing this, muscles return to their proper resting length, muscle imbalances are restored and pain is decreased or gone. STR can be particularly helpful for repetitive strain injuries and all types of athletes.
Some of the other techniques David uses are Esalen Deep Tissue massage, Active and Passive Myofascial Release and Muscle Energy Techniques.
He is a member of the Ontario Massage Therapist Association (OMTA) and is registered with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario.
David is active in cycling in the warmer times of the year and snowboarding and cross-country skiing in the winter.
