WORKSHOP: Pre-Pointe by Dr. Nancy Kadel

Come learn about the foot and ankle anatomy, growth and development of the young dancer and current research on pointe readiness evaluations. Techniques to assess the young dancer for pointe readiness will be demonstrated and discussed. Specific strengthening and stretching exercises aimed at preventing injuries and helping to dance safely on pointe will be learned.
The workshop is open to dancers, dance teachers and support staff and allied health care professionals. It will be given by Dr. Nancy Kadel, an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in foot and ankle reconstruction and the care and treatment of dancers. She is presently the Medical Director of the Healthy Dancers’ Clinic in San Francisco.
The workshop will be held on Sunday March 27, 2011 from 10a to 12pm at Pivot Sport Medicine & Orthopaedics.
