Dr. Yuri Charko, Chiropractor
Sports Chiropractor Golf Injuries Active Release Techniques (ART®) Clinical AcupunctureDr. Yuri Charko is an experienced Toronto chiropractor with more than two decades of clinical experience. He has been part of the team at Pivot Sport Medicine & Orthopaedics since 2014, helping active adults, recreational athletes and high-performance athletes manage pain, recover from injury and improve their movement and function.
Yuri holds a Bachelor of Physical and Health Education (BPHE) from the University of Toronto and earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) in 2009. His longstanding interest in sport, movement and athletic injuries led him to focus his chiropractic practice on the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal and sports injuries.
Sports Chiropractic & Active Release Techniques
Yuri is certified in Clinical Acupuncture with a foundation in Traditional Chinese Medicine and is an Active Release Techniques (ART®) provider, with training in the Spine, Upper Limb and Lower Limb modules.
His treatment approach may incorporate chiropractic care, soft-tissue treatment, acupuncture, functional exercise and movement retraining based on each patient’s individual assessment and goals.
Yuri uses functional movement screening and biomechanical assessment to look beyond the location of pain and identify movement, mobility or strength factors that may be contributing to a patient’s symptoms. This approach is particularly valuable for athletes and active individuals who want not only to recover from an injury, but also to return confidently to their sport or activity.
Golf Chiropractic & TPI Assessment
An avid golfer himself, Yuri has a particular interest in golf injuries, golf biomechanics and performance. He is certified through the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI), Level 1 and Level 2 Medical, allowing him to assess how mobility, strength and movement limitations may influence the golf swing.
Golfers experiencing back, hip, shoulder, knee or other musculoskeletal problems can benefit from an assessment that considers both their symptoms and the physical demands of their golf swing.
