Sport and Exercise Medicine Physician
Dr. Saif Shamshoon completed his undergraduate studies at McMaster University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science, Honours Kinesiology degree. He remained in Hamilton, Ontario to complete his medical training and subsequently, Family Medicine residency. He then completed further specialization in Sport and Exercise Medicine at McMaster.
Dr. Shamshoon’s expertise lies in the diagnosis and management of musculoskeletal conditions in individuals of all ages. He provides treatments including exercise and rehabilitation prescription as well as injections of cortisone and hyaluronic acid.
He has a special interest in caring for athletes with sports related injuries and has experience managing common and complex injuries in multiple sports at the recreational, semi-professional and professional levels. He is currently an assistant team physician with the CPL soccer club, Hamilton Forge FC. He has also worked closely with multiple McMaster University varsity teams, including men’s and women’s rugby as well as men’s football both on and off the field. Apart from this, he has had the opportunity to provide medical game coverage for the Hamilton Tiger Cats CFL team, Hamilton Bulldogs OHL hockey team and the Toronto Rock lacrosse team.
Outside of work, Dr. Shamshoon enjoys an active lifestyle including tennis, basketball and has recently taken up golf as well.
